"The Rag Doll Kid" came about as an entry to the Tony Hillerman's
Writers Conference Contest. I’d never written a western before, but I knew I
couldn't write just any ol' shoot-em-up. So, I put a supernatural spin to it.
It’s also the first time we visit my fictional town of Drowned Horse, AZ, which
makes a return visit in the Sci-fi Trails piece.

Cathy Buburuz introduces us to Gold Tooth, a pirate wanted dead or alive!
As the election year begins, Uncle River takes us to the future so we can see
how future generations might deal with questions of succession. Eric Warren
tells us what to do if you should happen to find the philosopher's stone in your
girlfriend's underwear drawer. Wayne Faust takes us back to the Alamo and shows
us what would happen if Davy Crockett knew that Santa Ana was going to win. Both
Lori T. Strongin and Jon Wesick give us a look a the daily lives of werewolves
and show us a howling good time in the process! These and other stories and
poems await in the spring 2008 issue of Tales of the Talisman.
